Active Release Techniques®

Active Release Techniques® are non-invasive soft-tissue and nerve treatments for strains, sprains, nerve entrapments, musculoskeletal, and neuromuscular disorders. Active Release Techniques® (ART) work by dynamically releasing muscles, ligaments, tendons, and fascia that no longer function properly due to overuse or injury.  We hope you enjoy learning about ART and take a moment to call Pinecone Physio if you are in Reno, NV.

Active Release Techniques® (ART)

Advanced Active Release Techniques® (ART) Treatments

Active Release Techniques® is the gold standard in non-invasive soft-tissue and nerve treatment, including treatment of strains, sprains, nerve entrapments, and other musculoskeletal and neuromuscular disorders. Hands-on, movement-based ART treatment is specifically designed to quickly reduce pain and restore function. Whether you have a minor strain or a complex injury, ART gets you back to work and back to play faster and more effectively than conventional therapy methods.

ART Certified Providers™ utilize a hands-on diagnostic process, palpating affected areas in order to pinpoint the damaged and inflamed tissue. (Don’t worry, “palpating” just means the Certified Provider uses touch to feel and diagnose the root cause of the injury or disorder.)

The diagnostic process utilizes the provider’s hands to identify aberrations in tissue texture, tension, and movement, continuing until the provider determines the root cause of a condition.

Once identified, the condition is targeted by one or more ART treatment protocols, each combining precise touch with specific patient movements to restore proper function and relieve pain.

ART treatment works by releasing muscles, ligaments, tendons, and fascia that no longer function properly due to overuse or injury.

Once the issue is located, the treatment proceeds to specific patient movements and practitioner touch to release adhesions and relieve pain.

Treatment sessions last about 15-minutes and many patients experience dramatic reduction in pain and increase in range of motion after their first treatment.

Because the ART system is unique, the results are uncommon. There are no known side effects and most conditions, including strains, sprains, nerve entrapments, and other musculoskeletal and neuromuscular disorders, are resolved in just five or fewer treatment sessions.

Meaning you spend less time in waiting rooms and doctor’s offices, and more time living your life.

How does ART treatment differ from other therapies and treatments?

Touch is an important psychomotor skill of ART certified providers, directly correlated with successful and rapid treatment. ART is the only modality that focuses on effective and comfortable touch as one of its keystones. ART certified providers are highly trained in a diagnostic process to accurately and efficiently determine the specific tissues generating pain and altered movement. ART full body certified providers can effectively locate each of the 450 structures we treat (muscles, ligaments, tendons, and nerves) and palpate those structures to determine if the tissue is healthy or damaged. The ART systems allows two distinct advantages:

Determining the actual root issue, instead of focusing solely on the location of the pain.

Delivering effective treatment to a pinpointed structure.

The result: better outcomes, faster.
