Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Golf Rehabilitation and Performance

The role of a TPI Golf Medical Specialist is critical to help golfers get back in the game, maximizing both performance and durability. Unfortunately, injuries are common for avid golfers. Research suggests over half of all serious golfers have physical issues impacting the amount of golf they play. As A TPI Golf Medical Specialist, Dr. Cori Lentz will look at how these injuries developed, assess and treat underlying movement dysfunctions causing pain, and determine how to address your specific physical limitations to improve performance. Pinecone Physio can work with your golf pro or coach as part of your rehabilitation team. TPI Golf Medical Specialists have the education and tools needed to navigate the complex world of golf-specific injuries and golf-specific rehabilitation.

There are five components in the golf specific initial evaluation at Pinecone Physio, which usually lasts approximately 90 minutes:

The Golf Screen: Identify how you can improve by testing:
- Core control
- Upper and lower body dissociation
- Ability to maintain posture with hands overhead
- Ability to set and release the golf club
The Body Swing Connection: Based on the screen result, we estimate the likelihood of several swing characteristics. The results of the golf screen and body swing connection are shared with each player on an interactive app and also emailed. This enables each player to share their results with their coach, golf pro, fitness professionals, and other members of their rehab team.
Fitness and Power Screen: Identify your potential for power and what is needed to swing faster and hit the ball further.
Treatment: This may consist of functional dry needling, electrical stimulation, manual therapy including Active Release Technique® (ART®), advanced Graston Technique®, joint mobilizations with movement, Blood Flow Restriction Therapy (BFRT), or a combination.
Exercise Prescription: Based on your unique screening results and your goals, you are given an exercise prescription. This is provided in the interactive TPI app, with videos of each exercise, explanations of how the exercises translate to your golf game, instructions, prescribed reps, rest time, and the duration of each exercise routine. This is one of the most powerful tools within the TPI golf rehabilitation program. The time and quality of how you train outside of the clinic will make all the difference in getting back in the game.

About the Titleist Performance Institute

Current patients and new patients require the golf specific initial examination to begin the program. After the initial evaluation, Pinecone Physio offers three TPI Golf Rehabilitation and Performance therapy packages.

2 weeks: 6 sessions (3 sessions per week for 2 weeks): Valued at $1,680; Package Discount: $1,500

6 weeks: 14 sessions (3 sessions per week for 2 weeks, 2 sessions per week for 4 weeks): Valued at $3,600; Package Discount: $3,000

10 weeks: 22 sessions (3 sessions per week for 2 weeks, 2 sessions per week for 8 weeks): Valued at $5,520; Package Discount: $4,500

Each package includes access to the TPI app to view screen results, your progress, and your exercise prescription. Each package also includes functional dry needling, manual therapy including Active Release Technique® (ART®), advanced Graston Technique®, joint mobilizations with movement, blood flow restriction therapy (BFRT), therapeutic exercises, electrical stimulation (E-Stim), and nutritional recommendations to optimize rehabilitation/performance. Additional therapies may also be added for optimal results. After the initial examination, expect each session to last 60 minutes.

Each package treatment schedule includes typical recommendations, but your Doctor of Physical Therapy will assess your plan of care and determine the frequency of sessions needed for your unique recovery. Any amount paid towards an initial examination will be credited towards your TPI Golf Rehabilitation and Performance package if it is decided this is the best treatment for your plan of care. Please ask us about discounts provided for community heroes and neighborhood partners. After your initial examination, we will confirm with you how much your package will cost and will collect the cost of the full package from you prior to scheduling. Pinecone Physio will provide you with a “superbill” receipt you can use to submit to your insurance company upon request. Pending your particular insurance coverage, your insurance company may reimburse you directly for services. To be perfectly clear, every insurance company’s reimbursement rates are different and many do not reimburse for functional dry needling and sports performance therapy, but they may reimburse for a portion of other treatments included in each package.
